Features GuapaDEP
The assistance of children in the emergency environment constitutes a great challenge for health personnel.Treatments are different at different stages of development; the doses of drugs and the type of materials for each patient vary by size.
The intervention or the possibility of consultation with an expert in the care of critically ill pediatric patients is not always available in all healthcare centers. For this reason, algorithms and orientation scales, formulas for calculating doses and mnemonics have been designed that recall some of the most important or most frequently used values. It provides groups of therapeutic indications according to the size of the patient.
Based on the length of the child, areas represented with colors are created that provide orientation in attendance. The purpose of GuapaDEP is to provide Spanish-speaking physicians with an accessible and up-to-date consultation tool during the care of critically ill pediatric patients in the emergency setting, which supports rapid decision-making.The scientific recommendations of the American Heart Association (AHA) and the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), meeting at ILCOR, have been periodically modified every five years during the last 15 years.
This is due to the fact that scientific knowledge shows that it is possible to improve the chances and quality of survival of critically ill patients based on new evidence.
The current recommendations have emerged through these consensuses and are translated into care guidelines, drug doses, and algorithms for care. This edition is the fourth of the GUAPA product.
It is based on previous models (GUAPA08, GUAPA 2, GUAPA NEO) that have been modified, corrected and increased.
The data arise from bibliographic references but mainly from the current guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA) (3) and Neonatal Resucitation (5).The algorithms have been modified to adapt them to the graph of the guide, but they faithfully follow the reference scheme.
